Miss the old coconut cake recipe
My family loved the coconut cake but the last time we purchased it, it did not taste or feel the same. We're really dissapointed.
No longer can we enjoy the cake we just loved. Better than homemade. Why did it have to change? Please bring back the old recipe!
I don't think the size has changed but it isn't as light and fluffy. the cake or the frosting. This reminds me more of pound cake. It doesn't melt in your mouth and the frosting isn't as creamy smooth.
This is not like we remember and loved and could count on.
Really wish the old recipe would come back. Anyone else feel the same way?

Lemon layer cake barely tastes of lemon
I remember this cake fondly and had a craving for it. Usually I kept several in the freezer.
Yesterday, I bought another one. Thankfully, I only bought one. I remember this cake to have a lucious lemon filling like a pudding and a fresh taste. The lemon pudding filling has been replaced with a lemon icing which faintly tastes of lemon and unfortunately has an artificial taste.
I then did something that I cannot even remember doing before. With only two slices gone, I threw the cake out.
If Pepperidge Farm is cheapening all of their products, I will not take a chance on another. I wonder what ninety day wonder made this decision?

Cookie Shrinkage?
I am a big fan of Chesapeake, Sausalito, Nantucket, Maui and a few other types of cookies. As I remember them, they were of such a diameter and thickness that I could not eat more than two without getting a huge guilt complex.
Two was enough, and they were extremely tasty and satisfying. Now they appear to be smaller. They no longer fill the bag with two stacks of four cookies per row. In fact, you can easily move two more cookies into each row.
Two cookies will no longer do, even though they seem not as tasty as they used to be. I think that maybe the company performed this act of prestidigitation in order to appeal to the calorie conscious consumer when they read the calorie per serving label. But the obvious amount of empty space in the now oversized bag is a dead giveaway. I am preferring that explanation to a less attractive one where the company shrunk the cookies to save money.
In this case the consumer is paying the same price for smaller portions, rather than higher prices for the old larger portions. Either way, I wish the deception to go away, either with realistic packaging, or a return to the original-sized cookies.

Pepperidge Farm - Cookies Review from Santa Monica, California
For over 40 years I have been eating Pepperidge Farms cookies. I noticed they had become smaller about 2 years ago but what have they done to them now?
They are so tiny now that it's hard to dunk them in my tea. Their other cookies have all shrank down as well.
Their packaging is so strange now that I have to use scissors to cut open or the entire package is destroyed while trying to tear the bag. How sad to have something I have enjoyed eating since a kid turn into a generic & small portioned cheap cookie.
Golden 3-layer cake.....totally disappointed
Why change something that wasn't broken!! Posted to their FBook page and received this response:
We're sorry to hear you didn't like the changes to our Golden Layer Cake. Listening to consumer feedback, we had made some changes to improve the flavor and texture of the cake, overall, to mimic the experience of a fresh-baked or homemade cake. We're happy to gather your comments and share them with the team. Please reply with the UPC code, the full date code, the store where you purchased this and your mailing address so we can send you out a coupon.
Please tell me why I would want a coupon to go back and purchase something so gross??!!

The cake taste different and the frosting is heavier. I prefer the old version which I ate for years. Why change something that is good and classic for something worse?
A neighbor gave half of a Pepperidge Farm Coconut cake today. I used to LOVE it.
The cake has changed. The frosting was oily and almost led like. I kept taking bites because thinking I was hallucinating.
The rest is going in the garbage. Such a shame when companies mess with a tried and true product.
Used to have strawberry layer too, and I agree 100% not as light and airy as before. Sometimes you jeed to leave things as they are, I wish they would of
Used to be wonderful. Now HORRIBLE
Just got finished trying to enjoy the PF coconut cake for my birthday. We always enjoyed this cake.
It had definitely changed. The texture and taste was different, and not in a good way.
The icing was way different, almost mushy and oily. We each had a couple of bites and it went in the garbage.
It tastes different! My mom worked at the original factory and it dies NOT taste the same.
Yes! 1,000 times ‘yes’!
I just lost my father and I’m on a hunt for the old version of a Pepperidge Farm cake we used to eat together for decades... what have you done with our tradition?
What have you done with our comfort food?!? How dare you takeaway that special goodness in our lives!
This is my second time and will be the last time with PF coconut cake. This cake is plain, firm, tasteless with barely any frosting.
The 'old', 'exquisite' soft cake with half inch frosting and shredded coconut shreds is GONE.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Why change a cake that was great to now one that tastes and feels life dry CARDBOARD. WHY?
Yes! What happened? Company got cheap!
I absolutely concur with your evaluation of the "new" PF coconut cake! Very disappointed in my last purchase and was hoping it was an isolated incident as the cake had only a skim of icing and almost zero coconut topping.
Looks like we'll have to find a substitute or bake our own. Too bad, for years it was consistently delicious and satisfying.
