Miss the old coconut cake recipe

My family loved the coconut cake but the last time we purchased it, it did not taste or feel the same. We're really dissapointed.

No longer can we enjoy the cake we just loved. Better than homemade. Why did it have to change? Please bring back the old recipe!

I don't think the size has changed but it isn't as light and fluffy. the cake or the frosting. This reminds me more of pound cake. It doesn't melt in your mouth and the frosting isn't as creamy smooth.

This is not like we remember and loved and could count on.

Really wish the old recipe would come back. Anyone else feel the same way?

The cake taste different and the frosting is heavier. I prefer the old version which I ate for years. Why change something that is good and classic for something worse?

Guest

A neighbor gave half of a Pepperidge Farm Coconut cake today. I used to LOVE it.

The cake has changed. The frosting was oily and almost led like. I kept taking bites because thinking I was hallucinating.

The rest is going in the garbage. Such a shame when companies mess with a tried and true product.

Guest

Used to have strawberry layer too, and I agree 100% not as light and airy as before. Sometimes you jeed to leave things as they are, I wish they would of

Guest

Used to be wonderful. Now HORRIBLE

Guest

Just got finished trying to enjoy the PF coconut cake for my birthday. We always enjoyed this cake.

It had definitely changed. The texture and taste was different, and not in a good way.

The icing was way different, almost mushy and oily. We each had a couple of bites and it went in the garbage.

Guest

It tastes different! My mom worked at the original factory and it dies NOT taste the same.

Guest

Yes! 1,000 times ‘yes’!

I just lost my father and I’m on a hunt for the old version of a Pepperidge Farm cake we used to eat together for decades... what have you done with our tradition?

What have you done with our comfort food?!? How dare you takeaway that special goodness in our lives!

Guest

This is my second time and will be the last time with PF coconut cake. This cake is plain, firm, tasteless with barely any frosting.

The 'old', 'exquisite' soft cake with half inch frosting and shredded coconut shreds is GONE.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Why change a cake that was great to now one that tastes and feels life dry CARDBOARD. WHY?

Yes! What happened? Company got cheap!

Guest

I absolutely concur with your evaluation of the "new" PF coconut cake! Very disappointed in my last purchase and was hoping it was an isolated incident as the cake had only a skim of icing and almost zero coconut topping.

Looks like we'll have to find a substitute or bake our own. Too bad, for years it was consistently delicious and satisfying.

Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon Swirl Bread Review

Cinnamon bread just shrank by 30 percent but price remained the same. Did you think we would not notice? Never buying another pf product again and telling all of our friends what a rip off this company has engineered. You just lost a 40 year customer over this. How profitable was that?

Lemon layer cake barely tastes of lemon

I remember this cake fondly and had a craving for it. Usually I kept several in the freezer.

Yesterday, I bought another one. Thankfully, I only bought one. I remember this cake to have a lucious lemon filling like a pudding and a fresh taste. The lemon pudding filling has been replaced with a lemon icing which faintly tastes of lemon and unfortunately has an artificial taste.

I then did something that I cannot even remember doing before. With only two slices gone, I threw the cake out.

If Pepperidge Farm is cheapening all of their products, I will not take a chance on another. I wonder what ninety day wonder made this decision?

Every aspect of these cookies has deteriorated. I agree, crumbled cookies, smaller cookies etc.

I generally shop at Kroger, but it seems to be an issue everywhere else as well. Not that I think anything will change, except I will try other brands and also start back doing my own delicious baking.

PEPPERIDGE FARM PUFF PASTRY TURNOVER CHOCOLATE JUST TERRIBLE

These were awful.Commercial/artificial taste.Oily not buttery.I just threw out 1/2 a package. I used to buy the apple turnovers and thought those rather good. These are indescribably bad.The chocolate is almost medicinal.Your mouth is left with an oily residue from the pastry and a medicinal residue from the chocolate.I was hoping for a lovely croissant like product.Severely disappointed.Plus they were not cheap.Far better to go to a good bakery and spend a little more than deal with this product.

Cookie Shrinkage?

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I am a big fan of Chesapeake, Sausalito, Nantucket, Maui and a few other types of cookies. As I remember them, they were of such a diameter and thickness that I could not eat more than two without getting a huge guilt complex.

Two was enough, and they were extremely tasty and satisfying. Now they appear to be smaller. They no longer fill the bag with two stacks of four cookies per row. In fact, you can easily move two more cookies into each row.

Two cookies will no longer do, even though they seem not as tasty as they used to be. I think that maybe the company performed this act of prestidigitation in order to appeal to the calorie conscious consumer when they read the calorie per serving label. But the obvious amount of empty space in the now oversized bag is a dead giveaway. I am preferring that explanation to a less attractive one where the company shrunk the cookies to save money.

In this case the consumer is paying the same price for smaller portions, rather than higher prices for the old larger portions. Either way, I wish the deception to go away, either with realistic packaging, or a return to the original-sized cookies.

Absolutely smaller. I would say by 1/2" in diameter.

Guest

I agree. Size is ridiculously smaller

Guest

I absolutely agree with the cookie size issue. We are paying the same price for less product!

The same as ice cream and now even spaghettios.

Bring back our awesome cookies. Sausalito were my favorite!

These cookies have been around for a long time. I wish I had a bag from 20 years ago to compare the weight.

Pepperidge Farm - Cookies Review from Huntley, Illinois

I have now quit buying pepperidge farm cookies for good. I have thrown out the last 2 packages. I thought the first one must be a fluke, it was sooooo dry and hard. It was within the dates, so I was annoyed, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. 2nd pack... Same thing! You have lost a customer for good.

Just bought classic variety pack. Didn't like taste of cookies at all.

Strange, I used to love these cookies. Now I don't.

They must have change the recipe. Oh well.

Guest

Purchased their 3-layer chocolate fudge cake. Pictures on the outside of the box indicate a fudge icing.

There is NO fudge icing anywhere on this cake! Very disappointed.

How can you show pictures of something, have words that say it contains something, and then not have it in your product? Completely inappropriate!

Pepperidge Farm - Cookies Review from Santa Monica, California

For over 40 years I have been eating Pepperidge Farms cookies. I noticed they had become smaller about 2 years ago but what have they done to them now?

They are so tiny now that it's hard to dunk them in my tea. Their other cookies have all shrank down as well.

Their packaging is so strange now that I have to use scissors to cut open or the entire package is destroyed while trying to tear the bag. How sad to have something I have enjoyed eating since a kid turn into a generic & small portioned cheap cookie.

If they got any smaller you'd need tweezers.....seriously...they think consumers are dopes. .95 ounce cookie...better call them nuggets. They do this so they can 1# make money and 2 comply with the nutrition police as far as calorie per cookie.

Guest

I agree. The cookies are a lot smaller.

Golden 3-layer cake.....totally disappointed

Why change something that wasn't broken!! Posted to their FBook page and received this response:

We're sorry to hear you didn't like the changes to our Golden Layer Cake. Listening to consumer feedback, we had made some changes to improve the flavor and texture of the cake, overall, to mimic the experience of a fresh-baked or homemade cake. We're happy to gather your comments and share them with the team. Please reply with the UPC code, the full date code, the store where you purchased this and your mailing address so we can send you out a coupon.

Please tell me why I would want a coupon to go back and purchase something so gross??!!

The golden cake used to be my absolute favorite. I should have known when I saw the redesigned packaging.

The frosting is darker and the cake and filling are tasteless. Just gross.

So disappointing.

Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Review from North Salt Lake, Utah

I got incredible upper intestinal pain a few hours after eating one Pepperidge Farms petits fours. Actually ended up going to the ER. The only thing that I ate that the rest of the family did not was the petit fours. My husband had two the next night and vomited all night.

It turns out that the petits fours that made my husband and I ill were Hickory Farms petits fours and NOT Pepperidge Farms. I do not even know if Pepperidge Farms makes petits fours.

I apologize for posting the wrong info. I LOVE using Pepperidge Farms brown sugar swirl bread for making French toast, especially baked French toast casserole.

Turns out, they were Hickory Farms petits fours, NOT Pepperidge Farms. I am truly sorry.

Please feel free to disregard or remove this post. I do not even know if Pepperidge Farms makes petits fours.

I love Pepperidge Farms brown sugar swirl bread, especially for making French toast. Again, I apologize for posting on the wrong site.

Old packaging

I have been buying Pepperidge bread all my life, I lived near the factory in Norwalk ct. recently I was back in ct and noticed new packaging of the bread, a better package. the bread was much fresher. i live in south florida now and they are still selling the old packaging here and have been for a long time. they have also lost there premier location at the grocery store shelves, also the quality control must be sleeping because the thickness of the slices changes with every piece you pull out. i never would have expected something like this from a well established company known as a premier brand
